Join us for 10 days of Arctic adventure, exploring the shapes, colours, sounds, textures and ever-changing light of the high Arctic in Spring!
Embark on a unique Arctic adventure aboard our classic 46-meter, two-masted schooner, as we journey to nearly 80° north, tracing the edge of the sea ice in the breathtaking high Arctic. Here, the sky stretches endlessly, and the vast, awe-inspiring landscape is impossible to fully grasp. Cliffs teeming with hundreds of thousands of nesting birds, tiny patches of shelter nurturing miniature plants, and wildlife like walruses basking under the midnight sun and polar bears hunting seals along the ice will leave you speechless.
Explore shores marked by ancient whale bones, unmarked graves, and remnants of past human endeavours, such as trappers’ huts, mining relics, and intriguing landmarks. Wander along beaches scattered with driftwood, marvel at cobalt blue glaciers, and hike into rugged mountain terrain.
This Art Safari is designed for artists and photographers of all levels, offering opportunities for sketching and painting on land, from our zodiac, and from the comfort of the ship itself, which is fully equipped for artistic pursuits. Non-painters are also welcome to join in this unforgettable expedition.
Led by experienced artistic and expedition leaders, this journey allows you to immerse yourself in the ever-changing colours, textures, and light of the Arctic, capturing its beauty through your artwork and photographs. From incredible land and seascapes to glaciers, icebergs, and mountains, the Arctic offers unimaginable scenes that will fill your sketchbook and provide endless photographic inspiration.
Your art tutor, Claudia Myatt, is an illustrator and watercolour artist with a deep passion for boats and the sea. Claudia is thrilled to be leading an Art Safari to the Arctic, having embarked on numerous seafaring adventures. One of the most notable was to Antarctica in 2020, where she served as Artist in Residence aboard the icebreaker HMS Protector. Claudia is eager to share her love for the sea and her joy of sketching on location with you at the top of the world.
Our exploration will also bring us face-to-face with incredible wildlife, including arctic terns, puffins, arctic foxes, polar bears, reindeer, walruses, bearded seals, and beluga whales, as well as the fascinating plant life that thrives in this extraordinary environment.
This is no ordinary cruise, this is an expedition into one of the world’s most remote and wildest regions, where every moment presents an opportunity to learn, discover, and create.
