The intensity of Brin’s interest in birds is infectious. His sharp eyes and detailed observations will help you put any creature on paper.
Brin Edwards has a love of detail in his drawings and illustrations; then he allows freedom and play in larger oil paintings. When working up sketches into paint, he will encourage you to play with colour, to find enchanting hues and patterns for light and movement. His own expressive oil painting style depicts the natural world in a unique way, it is full of colour and light which brings in atmosphere and mood. He sees his looser and atmospheric approach as a kind of antidote to the precision of illustration work.
Captivated by colourful tropical species in the back garden during his Singapore childhood, Brin learned about wildlife early. He is now fortunate to live and work in the beautiful Suffolk countryside where he built a purpose built straw bale studio. Much of the inspiration for his paintings comes from the fields and hedgerows close to home.
As a student in the late 1970s Brin Edwards graduated with vague ideas of a career in scientific research after a degree in Biology and Ecology at University. However he found that was much more interested in the way the natural world looks than in any theories about how it worked and so began to paint.
With Brin you will delve into a love of the natural world and learn from his compulsion to draw and paint wildlife.
