Settle in to a watercolour workshop with artist and tutor Julia Cassells as she paints giraffes! This recording will guide you through how to compose and produce a painting from start to finish in your own time and at 30% off it’s a bargain!
Places Available
Julia has spent a decade living in the bush in Zambia and Tanzania, and has an intimate understanding of African wildlife, which she portrays with natural fluidity.
Focusing on giraffes, we will have the chance to draw from stills and video footage as Julia demonstrates how she tackles their shape, proportions, and spot patterns as well as looking at their movements and behaviour. Even using photos, she will show you how to make your sketches lively and loose.
Julia will show examples of her own sketches and paintings and guide you through exercises to help your wildlife sketching and watercolour technique.
Feedback and advice on your work are available during the workshop via your webcam and after the workshop in the private Art Safari Facebook Group.
The workshop will also be recorded so you will be able to watch the video online afterwards.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Julia will work in watercolour but you may use any medium – she often works with Winsor Lemon, Indian Yellow, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Pthalo Turquoise, Cobalt Blue, French Ultramarine, & Vandyke Brown. This course isn’t specifically about colour, so just use colours you are familiar with and those you already have. You are welcome to work in oils or pastel.
