A free event for local art tutors and school teachers as a Professional Art Teacher’s Development workshop led by Art Safari artists

We are delighted to host a free event for local art tutors and school teachers as a Professional Art Teacher’s Development workshop. Nurturing and growing teachers means that they gain knowledge to transfer to their pupils and students.

Specifically this event will provide attendees with skills and experience in teaching their pupils about nature and wildlife, about the mitigation of climate change through tree planting, and about the appreciation of the natural landscape through art.

During the workshop, you’ll gain hands-on experience in:

  • Teaching pupils about the natural world and wildlife through art
  • Using art as a tool for climate awareness, including the importance of tree planting, woodland management, conservation issues, the (three) different types of rewilding, and farming in a protected area and a site of special scientific interest and in an AONB
  • Encouraging students to appreciate and represent the beauty of the landscape in their creative work
  • Teach pupils how to engage with their environment through art

We’ll be exploring how to link these themes to the National Curriculum for Art & Design, making it relevant for both primary and secondary school levels. This event will equip you with creative approaches, techniques, and resources to engage students while meeting curriculum objectives.

Key outcomes:

  • Explore a range of art techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture) that reflect nature and climate.
  • Practical methods for linking art with sustainability, supporting your pupils’ creativity and environmental awareness.

This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to enhance your professional development and build practical skills you can immediately apply in the classroom.

We are very grateful to have be part of this project made possible by Farming in a Protected Landscape.
