Learn all the fun stuff with Watercolour! It’s a satisfying way to create striking, colourful images, and the basics are easy to pick up!

Book both days to spark new ideas and take your art to the next level. Day One is perfect for beginners, while Day Two helps you build on your practice. If you’re new to watercolour, start with Day One, or book both to really dive in and extend your skills!

Ready to improve your watercolour skills? This is the course for you!

This one-day workshop focuses on colour mixing, technical brushwork, and paint techniques, giving you valuable guidance to simplify your approach to this beautiful medium. Watercolours are portable and fast-drying, making them perfect for painting outdoors, capturing life, and adding colour washes to sketches.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll feel more confident and excited about using watercolours with your art tutor, Claudia Myatt.

If you’d like a refresher before diving in, join us for Day One – Watercolour Basics. Revive your skills and be fully prepared for the improvers’ workshop! Click here to book!

Improving your Watercolours
Now that you’re familiar with watercolours, it’s time to explore new techniques and deepen your understanding of colour mixing, glazing, and various ways to use this versatile medium. We’ll cover:

• In-depth colour mixing – mastering the primaries
• Drawing with a brush – quick and expressive watercolours
• Rescuing ‘failed’ paintings
• Watercolours with mixed media
• Exploring different painting styles – and plenty of time to play!

These workshops take place in Art Safari’s riverside studio, where there is a wealth of material to be seen from the balcony and around the quayside.

There will be plenty of tea, coffee, water and biscuits available throughout the day.  Lunch is an hour, please bring your own packed lunch, share a pizza or pop into one of the many cafes nearby.  It also gives you the opportunity to see the Sutton Hoo ship reconstruction and the Tide Mill around the corner from us.

To help you prepare we will send you a short list of suggested art materials to bring with you.  We’ll supply some nice materials for you too.
