Lead with intuition and explore your expressive painting style, starting with the perspective and horizon lines in the beautiful Deben River landscape to incorporate its boats, buildings and people.
Discover Karen’s techniques for creating striking skies. She will create stunning sky-drop backgrounds with watercolour.
Join us for a 50 minute stop-start walk (less than one mile) along the river wall and learn sketching techniques that you’ll use forever. With the guidance of your art tutor, you’ll have pages of sketches and enjoy more of this area of natural beauty.
Revealing the energy of colour, Karen shows how to use colour for extra form, light and vibrancy in your paintings and sketches.
Misty or hot and sunny, Alice will share traditional and experimental approaches in drawing and watercolour. You’ll learn techniques to help you capture the atmosphere and thrill of the riverside.
Working with folded or crumpled paper to spice up your pictures, we spend a happy playful time with paper!
Time for colour mixing in watercolours, how to paint the changing light on the river and mix the muted colours of nature.
You don’t have to be a twitcher to use a telescope! It can give you a whole new way of looking. It flattens the image and brings you eye to eye with your subject. Brin will show you how to draw through the scope.
Bright, bold and full of interest, the house boats on the quay are wonderful subjects – Claudia will show how she simplifies them and uses colour layers for texture and form.
